Norfolk Vanguard Offshore Wind Farm
As you may have seen, unfortunately we would be losing the use of some of the grazing meadows as excavations would be taking place in order to lay cables to transit the energy from the off shore wind farms to an inland substation. In September 2023 a Temporary Possession Notice was served that allowed the wind farm project to take control of our land. We would like to share an update (along with some pictures) of the works on our land.
In October 2023 de-vegetation works started on our land to remove hedges in preparation for the upcoming excavations. Unfortunately we have lost some very mature hedgerows however we will be re-instating these hedges as soon as the construction works are completed.
In June 2024 we felt that we had no option but to close our CL in order to allow the construction work to take place without affecting our guests. As soon as we were closed the diggers arrived on site and significant excavations started on the land next to our CL. The topsoil was stripped 40m wide across the meadows and pits were dug in order to receive the Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) under the road. Three trenches were dug and ducts have been installed under our land at depths of upto 8m.
The excavations have been completed and now the land is being re-instated and re-seeded this spring, fences and hedges will be replanted in order to return the fields around our CL their original condition ahead of re-opening our CL in June 2025.
Its important to us that the area around our CL is returned to its former state for our guest to enjoy and we are working hard to ensure that re-instatement is to an acceptable standard before we host our guests again.
We are planning to re-open our CL on 3rd June 2025.
We aim to open bookings towards the end of January.
